Carrier TMS safety features allow users to create custom document templates to fit their various document specifications and requirements. This article covers how to create a custom document and the different field types available on documents.
To view documents stored in Carrier TMS:
Settings > General Settings > Document Types
All stored drivers, trucks, and trailer document types will be listed on this page.
To create a document:
1. On the document types page, click
2. Enter the document name.
3. Select Drivers, Trucks, or Trailers to which the document would apply.
4. Select from the field(s) you would like to add to your document and drop it into the document template.
Document Field Types and Examples:
Date field allows users to select or enter a date on a document.
Dropdown field allows users to create a list of options to select one from on a document. The field width can be set to Short, Medium or Long.
Expiry Date w/ Alert field allows users to set an expiration date on a document. This field will enable a document expiration alert on the drivers, trucks, and trailers page.
File field allows users to upload files to a document. Accepted formats are .PNG, .JPEG and .PDF.
Number field allows users to enter numeric values on the document like phone numbers, odometer mileage, and identification numbers. The field width can be set to Short, Medium, or Long.
States Dropdown field allows users to select from a list of states on a document.
Short Text field is a section that allows users to enter text, including references. The field width can be set to Short, Medium, or Long.
Long Text field is a section that allows users to enter text, including notes. The field width can be set to Short, Medium, or Long.
Checkbox field allows users to create a list of options to select one or more from a document. The field width can be set to Short, Medium, or Long.
Mileage Limit (+alert) field allows users to set an alert when the odometer reaches a mileage on the truck. The odometer mileage is synced from the truck’s ELD. This field is only available for truck documents.
To set required/optional fields:
Users can set document fields to be required by checking off the box next to “Required” or fields can be set to optional by leaving the checkbox empty
To remove a field from a document:
Click on theon the field that you would like to remove from the document.
To save a document:
Click on the bottom of the document template. You can also preview the document before saving it by clicking
