Geo fence is a Carrier TMS feature used to automatically update load and segment statuses based on the truck's location (latitude & longitude).
For this feature to work, you need to have an ELD integration set up, and data should be flowing for the specific truck.
Geo fences are added to the facility in order to detect when a truck is either entering or exiting the facility. The radius is set in miles. The example below shows 4 miles as a geo fence for this facility:
All subsequent usage of this facility will have the same geo fence radius.
Loads that use addresses instead of facilities get a 4-mile geofence around the address by default.
Geo fences behave in two ways depending on the stop of the segments:
- For the Origin of a segment:
When the truck has entered the geo fence radius, it will mark this segment as Active.
- For the Destination of a segment:
When the truck has exited the geo fence radius, it will mark this segment as Complete.
Important: If all the segments are marked as Complete, it will set the LOAD status to Delivered.
