Carrier TMS’s truckboard simplifies load planning and driver scheduling for dispatchers with the Live and Planner view. The truckboard allows you to plan, schedule, and track loads with ease to help reduce empty miles and truck/driver downtime. This article provides an overview of the truckboard to assist with dispatching operations, including navigating the Live and Planner view and adding custom events.
Live View
To access the truckboard, on your left dashboard, go to Operations > Truckboard
On top of the page, there will be a map view of your trucks’ current locations. Truck locations on the truckboard are automatically updated by the trucks’ ELD to provide dispatchers visibility to their truck/drivers’ locations and ETAs in real-time. In addition, ELD integration provides updates of the truck’s engine power status on the map:
- indicates the truck’s engine is on
- indicates the truck’s engine is off
Important: Please see the integration articles (pending) on how to connect to available ELD providers.
To view the truck’s location or route:
Click on the truck icon to zoom in on the truck’s current location on the map. If the truck is assigned to a load, the route will be displayed on the map. You can also click to zoom in or out of the map.
Filter Trucks by Locations:
You can search for available trucks within a certain radius of a specific pickup area to plan loads and possibly reduce empty miles with the map’s search bar. After entering a location (address, city, zip, or state) and the radius (in miles), the system will populate all trucks within the radius of the location.
Share Truck Positions:
You can also share your truck positions/availability with your customers with the public tracking link. On the public truckboard, customers will be able to search available trucks by pick-up location up to 7 days into the future. In addition, customers will be able to search available trucks by the trailer (reefer or dry-van) and driver (HAZMAT and/or tanker endorsed) qualifications. The public truckboard updates automatically based on the scheduling of your truckboard in Carrier TMS. To view the public tracking link, click on your truckboard.
Planner View
On the planner view, you will have visibility of available trucks for a specific day of the week, including trucks not assigned to loads, trucks delivering that day, shop time, and driver’s home time. In addition, the number of available trucks for a specific day will be displayed on the planner to help you identify how many trucks they have available to plan and schedule loads.
Each row on the planner will display the assigned dispatcher, truck number, trailer number, equipment type, driver, endorsement qualification, and weekly availability. In addition, you can filter through the planner to show details and events related to a specific dispatcher, driver, truck, or trailer.
Planner View Statuses
Truck/driver statuses are defined as:
